Adel Annual Flower & Produce Show 2018

The new even bigger and better Adel Annual Flower and Produce Show opened its doors on a sunny Saturday, 1st September, and what a wonderful day it was. The new layout of the Hall and Church has provided more space for exhibits to be displayed to best advantage, and more room for visitors to enjoy the show.

In addition to the above was our usual Plant Stall (relocated to inside and outside the front of the Church) providing quality plants at reasonable prices.

Our ever popular tea room was serving tea and homemade scones & cake

The standard of entries was very high this year, making the judge’s role more difficult than usual. Here are some of the worthy winners receiving their Prize.

In addition to the usual prizes, a new award was presented this year. You did not need to win the prize you simply had to enter one exhibit. Everyone who entered was placed in a draw and the winner selected by our President Martin Walker at the prize giving on Saturday, The winner received entry and tea for two at York Gate. Tarn Everett was presented with her prize at the end of the Prize giving on Saturday.

No show is possible without the dedication and hard work of the show helpers and its organising committee, who work tirelessly behind the scenes throughout the year, especially in the weeks leading up to the show.

This year has been more challenging than usual with all the changes taking place and it is to their credit that the day was such a success.

Change is also the word going forward, some of our helpers and committee are retiring after many years of service. The Society needs more support, if we are to continue and to build on our success this year. If you would like help, please contact any of the Show Committee or speak to someone at one of our monthly meetings.
